Author Karen Henrich
Since I founded my Paris tour company (NuitBlancheTours.com), I found that I was answering the same questions for clients over and over again. They wanted to know what the best seasons were to visit Paris… How to pick a hotel… Which arrondissement to stay in… How to painlessly get to/from the airport… What clothes to bring… and numerous other issues that all people need to know when travelling to a foreign land. So, I decided to compile all of this information, culled from hundreds of sources, into one handy guide. I’ve been told that even people who have been to Paris many times, or come on a regular basis, or even live in Paris, have all learned many of new things.”
Karen Henrich has come a long way since her first intrepid visit to Paris in October 2004, when she and a friend stumbled around Paris, attempted to figure out the métro system, ordered a few of the wrong things on menus, went through copious amounts of pain by taking public transportation to the airport with too much luggage, and tripped over their bad elementary school French while constantly searching for washrooms.
Today, Karen has become a true Parisian, making it her business to quickly figure out the city in preparation for receiving visitors on her popular tours. After all, she is a true explorer who loves to have local experiences at the places she spends time in. She’s done it time and time again—in Hong Kong, New York, London, Sydney, Auckland, Cairo and Honolulu, among other destinations. Karen’s insatiable curiosity and thirst to be “in the know” has led her to conduct massive amounts of research, including getting on the métro and stopping at practically every station, walking around for blocks and blocks, and poking her head in here, there and everywhere. She has compiled lists of hundreds of shops, cafés, restaurants, tourist sites and other points of interest. In addition, through a network of locals, she has assembled a tremendous library of practical tips and insights into the City of Lights.
Before, visitors would have to do hours of research in guide books and on the Internet to find the “golden nuggets” of insider information that Karen dishes out time and time again in the Insider Paris Guide for Practical Paris. Often, people don’t even know what to ask for in the first place, and that’s why this guide is so valuable. It is full of objective, practical, insider information about the best places to go and things to do in Paris.
